Beginner Level Activity
Junai has restarted the Beginner Level activity last Thursday. Next time will be on Feb 2nd from 8pm PST.
There is a little Beginner's area, and they had about 8-10 people who came and joined the activity, including a couple of native English speakers who helped them when they needed. The first day they practiced introduction and vocabulary from the textbook "Scholastic level 2 spider-man 2". Then they practiced a song by Carpenters and sang together!
Junaiさんが、ビギナーレベル向けのアクティビティを再開しました。毎週木曜日本時間午後１時からです。
来週はお忙しいそうなので、次回は２月２日（木）となります。テキストは「Scholastic level 2 spider-man 2」を使うようです。初回は自己紹介と、単語の練習、そしてカーペンターズの歌を一緒に練習しました。約10名ほどが加わり、とても楽しかったようです。
Junaiさんも初中級レベルですが、皆さんと一緒に楽しみながら練習・勉強するために、こうしてアクティビティを始めるのはとても素晴らしいことです。Cyprisでは、メンバーならだれでもこういった英会話練習のアクティビティをすることができます。

Cypris Villageお引越し！
Cypris Village has moved! Now we are on "Cypris Village IV" at Wellston.
サイプリスビレッジがお引越ししました。ホームステッドシムは問題が多いので、フルリージョンの半分弱サイズの場所に移設しました。 今度も今までの雰囲気を保ちつつずっとcozyなところです。訪れる皆さんがすぐに仲間になれるような作りになっていますよ。ぜひ遊びに来てください。また今年から、レッスンやアクティビティにて基本的な毎月のテーマが提示されることになり、先生やリーダーはそのテーマにそって内容を構成するように推奨されています。

リンデンラボによると今晩から今週一週間ほどの間、システムのリスタートなどをいろいろやるそうで、多くのところでラグやクラッシュが起こるかもしれません。
そんなことも踏まえて、今夜のプロフェッサーのレッスンは堅苦しくなくおしゃべりやゲームをやって過ごしましょう。日本時間夜９時からですので、時間前にはチャットリングに集合してください。10分以上遅れてくると参加を拒否される可能性があります。
サイプリスシムに来る時は、メンバーの方は是非グループタグをつけてくださいね。
また、センターエリアで黙っているのはよくありません。テキストチャットも基本的にご法度です。
とにかく、下手でもなんでもボイスで話しかけてみましょう。自分のボイスにエコーやひどいノイズがあると言われた方は、echo canyonに行って自分の声をチェックし、調整してくださいね。

Join Cypris Talent Show!!
8月27日（土）夜10時から、Cypris Villageで初のタレントショーを開催します。
結構メンバーの中には音楽的才能の持ち主たちも多いようで、最近ウェルカムエリアのすぐ裏に作ったステージでは毎日の様に歌ったり楽器を演奏したりする方の姿が見られます。そんな訳でこのイベントを企画しました。
そこで今、ステージに上がって演じてみたい方を募集しています。
コンテストではなくて、あくまでもお遊びアクティビティですので、そんなに緊張しなくてもいいんですよ。
基本的にボイスのグループなので、マイクを使って楽器の生演奏、なま歌です。あ、別に歌や音楽でなくても、英語の詩の朗読や小説、お芝居や有名人の言葉の一説を読むとか、またはコメディアンになって英語漫談・漫才でみんなを笑わせてくれても大歓迎！時間はひとつの演技・演奏に5分以内です。
もし興味がある方は、Mystie Sladeまでご連絡ください。
※もしもデジタル音楽を演奏したい方は、その曲がその方のオリジナル曲でしたらOKです。

Event: Hands Across Sims
今週の土曜日夜9時から11時の間、ハンズ・アクロス・シムズ（シムを越えて手をつなごう）というイベントを開催します。
Cyprisのメンバーは世界から集まっているので、それぞれの国の民族衣装などを身に纏い、国旗を掲げて手をつないで世界と繋がろうという主旨です。
一応メインランドかどこかのオープンなところで行う予定ですが、第一回目なのでCyprisVillageでおこなうかもしれません。メンバーの皆さん、お時間があったらぜひ参加してくださいね！
We are going to have an event called "Hands Across Sims" this saturday. Starting at 5am SLT, the participants(members) will be wearing the traditional costumes from their own countries. Then they will put up the national flags, and hold hands(on poseball). We will shoot a video and photos.
People from different countries are holding hands together connected in SL. It must be fun!
Please come and join us August 20th.(Members event)

Cypris Fashion Presentation
大変急な話ですが、来週の月曜、６月２７日の日本時間夜１０時から、Cypris Chat主催のファッションショー兼プレゼンテーションコンテストを開催します。（実際決まったのはほんの２週間前。。）
ファッションショーと言っても所謂プロのものではなく、モデルはみんなメンバーで、自分のお気に入りのファッションでステージを進み、その服やデザイナーについてなどのショートスピーチを（もちろん英語+ボイスで）します。
審査員が最後に入賞者を発表し、デザイナーブランドの服などが賞品としてもらえることになっています。
（モデルやってみたい、というメンバーの方、Professor Merryman または Mystie Sladeまでお早めに連絡ください！）
その後、後半はな・・・なんと！SLで和のパフォーマンスで有名＆超人気の「万華鏡」さんがやってきてくれます！我らがメンバーであるShowshowさんのSTE BANDさんとのコラボで素晴らしい舞台を披露して下さる予定です。

They will put on their favorite clothes, walk down the runway, and then talk in voice about the clothes they are wearing. For example, what you like about them, who the designer is, how much costs, etc.. Good presenters will receive prizes.
After that, we will have a special guest, one of the most famous Japanese dance group, "Mangekyo" collaborating with "STE BAND" perform for us!
They do very beautiful Kimono performances, and we are very lucky to have them.
Everyone is welcome! Please join us at the venue here!

2010もいよいよ終わりに近づいてきました。新しいサイプリスビレッジで、どんどん世界から新しいメンバーが増え、メンバーの皆さんによるアクティビティも盛んになってきました。１日の違う時間帯にいつも何かが起こっている、それは我々の目標でした。決して押し付けられたものではなく、自分たちで何かを始める。英語で話し合いながら楽しみ、共に学ぶ。それがどんどん今実現しています。

大阪ワークショップのお知らせ
Hello there!
It’s time again. Time for another introduction to virtual world language learning in Second Life. Learn about how we use virtual worlds to teach English while living in an international English speaking community on the Internet.
バーチャル世界の「セカンドライフ（SL）」で語学教育を体験する、Cypris Societyのワークショップ第３回です！
インターネットを使った仮想空間に存在する国際色豊かな人気英会話コミュニティで、実際にどのように英語教育が行われているのかを知ることができます。
This time we are going to have two separate areas, one for beginners and one for intermediate users. Beginning users will learn how to register for a new account, log in, and navigate around Second Life. Intermediate users will learn how to build basic objects and then how to make them interactive using scripts. This will prepare you for advanced lessons in how to connect Second Life to Moodle. Future workshops will have actual lessons being taught inworld once we have enough participants.
今回は初心者と中級者を大きく2つのグループに分けます。初心者はSLへのアカウント登録から、ログインの方法、そして仮想空間内での基礎的な動き方などを学びます。中級者は簡単なオブジェクト（物体）やスクリプト（プログラム）の作成に挑戦します。こういった技術は上級に進んだ時に、SLとMoodleを共有させる際にも役立ちます。その次の段階では実際にSLの中で英会話レッスンを行ってみたいと思います。

Mike McKay, Founder of Cypris Chat and Cypris Society, will be doing a 60 minute presentation on Saturday the 20th at the JALT conference in Nagoya entitled: Virtual World Language Learning. He will also be doing a presentation at ETJ in Osaka on the 28th entitled: Using ePortfolios in a Virtual World for Writing. Jean-Paul DuQuette will be participating in a forum/poster session at the national JALT conference on Saturday from 5:15. His research has been focused on language learning in virtual worlds.
Cypris Chat 及び Cypris Societyの創始者であるMike McKayが、11月20日（土）に名古屋で行われる『JALT2010』にて「Virtual World Language Learning」と題してプレゼンテーションを行います。また、28日には「 Using ePortfolios in a Virtual World for Writing」について大阪ETJにて発表します。 Jean-Paul DuQuetteはJALT2010にて20日午後5：15より「仮想空間での語学学習について」のポスターセッションを行います。

火曜:クイズと宿題
新しい島に移ってから、オフィシャルサイトもお引越しして大変に忙しくなってしまい、こちらはなかなか更新できませんでした。

New home, new website
新しい島,Cypris Village III に引っ越ししてやっと形が整ってきました。そこで今夜１０時からはグランドオープニングパーティーを開きますので、ぜひ遊びに来てください。
また、Ningに代わって新しいオフィシャルサイトが誕生しました。リンクはhttp://cyprischat.orgです。
今までとまったく違う形のサイトです。中に入るにはまずアカウントの作成が必要です。以前にNingでもサイプリスのメンバーだった方は、トップページにあるリンクから一度パスワードの再発行の手続きをする必要があります。以前に登録したメルアドで手続きしてください。
また、新しく登録する場合、必ずSLのアバター名（大文字小文字すべて同じ様に）で登録してください。本名は必要ありません。
ログインすると、まず一般向けのコミュニティセンターページに行きます。もしあなたがすでにセカンドライフメンバーでしたら画面上部のGroupsタブからFindGroupsを選び、「Cypris Chat SL Group」の横の「Join This Group」ボタンを押してください。
また今回、英語に自信がない方のために「Japanese/日本語」グループを作りました。この中でのみ日本語による投稿、質問なども受け付けます。もしよかったらこちらにも入ってみてください。

This is going to be a cool lesson. We are going to make some word-art tomorrow using the Wordle website (I will tell you all about it and help any learners who may be unable to access the site directly). You'll also be writing a little of your life story (which will become a Wordle poster in SL), so start thinking about what you'd like to tell about yourself in a paragraph or two. For intermediate to advanced learners.
